BIM Content Specialist

BIM Content Specialist

Anguleris Technologies · Elgin, IL or Remote · Full-time · Project Delivery

The short version

Anguleris is a 15-year, architect-founded construction technology company and the parent of BIMsmith, Swatchbox, Modlar, Archbase, and Gaudi AI. BIMsmith is where thousands of architects come to find, compare, and download manufacturer BIM content, and the quality of that content is the whole product.

You'll build it and you'll guard it, in equal measure. Half the job is producing manufacturer Revit content to our standards; the other half is validating and curating content so that nothing sloppy ever reaches an architect's model. Architects stake real projects on these files. That's the bar.

Why this role, why now

An architect who downloads one bad family remembers it, and a spec writer who trusts our content builds on it for years. BIMsmith's reputation with architects is the accumulation of thousands of clean files, earned one download at a time, and this role is where that reputation gets made. Quality here compounds.

What you'll own

Production. You'll build manufacturer Revit families and BIM content to spec: correctly parameterized, sensibly organized, right-sized, and faithful to the real product. You'll work from manufacturer documentation and learn to read product data the way an architect needs it to behave in a model.

Quality and curation. You'll validate content before it ships: parameters, naming, geometry, file hygiene, data accuracy. You'll catch what's wrong, fix what's fixable, and reject what isn't, with notes clear enough that it comes back right.

The standard itself. Our content standards are living documents. When you find a better convention, a recurring failure pattern, or a manufacturer quirk worth documenting, you'll improve the standard, not just the file.

Throughput with care. This is production work with real volume and real deadlines, and the hundredth family has to be as clean as the first. Speed comes from mastery and good templates, never from skipped checks.

Who does well here

Revit fluency is required: you've built families, you understand parameters and constraints, and you know what makes content pleasant or painful to use in a real project. Architecture, engineering, or BIM production background is a plus. The pattern:

  • You have an eye. A misnamed parameter, a family that's 40 MB heavier than it should be, a dimension that doesn't match the cut sheet: these things bother you before anyone points them out.
  • You're consistent. Quality that holds across hundreds of files is the craft. Monday-to-Thursday quality isn't quality.
  • You close loops. Every file you touch ends the day in a known state: shipped, fixed, or flagged with clear notes. Nothing ambiguous, nothing stranded.
  • You're specific. Your QA notes say what's wrong, where, and what right looks like. Nobody has to guess.
  • You're humble, hungry, and people-smart. All three, no exceptions. You take review feedback without bristling, you improve the process without being asked, and you write rejection notes that make people better instead of defensive.

What this role is not

  • It is not a modeling-for-modeling's-sake job. Every decision serves the architect who downloads the file. Elegance they never benefit from is just weight.
  • It is not a rubber-stamp QA seat. "Looks fine" is not a review. You're the last line before an architect's model, and you act like it.
  • It is not a stepping-stone away from craft. People who master this work grow into owning categories, standards, and the content quality that defines BIMsmith.

Practical details

  • Full-time, based at our Elgin, IL headquarters or remote.
  • You'll work daily with our Project Delivery team and manufacturer documentation, with support from PMs who own the client relationships.
  • Compensation: competitive salary, commensurate with experience.

How to apply

Skip the generic cover letter. Send us a short note answering one question: tell us about a piece of BIM content, yours or someone else's, that taught you what quality actually means, and what you took from it. Attach your résumé. That's it.
